Accidental Resurrection Guy
What's up with the naked guy fleeing while Jesus was being betrayed?
Do you remember that story in Mark where Jesus was being betrayed in the garden of Gethsemane and that guy wearing white linen lost his tunic and ran away naked? Mark is the only gospel that records this, and I've always been baffled on this.
Mark 14:51
One young man who had been following Jesus was wearing a linen cloth around his body. They caught hold of him, but he pulled free of the linen cloth and ran away naked.
Well, I was reading from Isaiah 28 and made some connections:
Is 28:15
You boast, “We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place.”
In other words, they are saying when God reigns down judgment upon us (them), it will PASS OVER them and not touch them because we have a SHELTER - A REFUGE of lies to COVER us.
Remember, the Israelites had blood to cover their doorposts so that God's wrath would pass over them. That blood was their protection just like the blood of Yeshua (Jesus) is our protection and refuge. These corrupt globalists THINK they have protection too since they made a covenant with death - but their cover and refuge are their lies. Their lies are their hiding place - not God.
And I started thinking about this account. What happened in the garden was BETRAYAL. Judas, who was presumably one of them, who was the purse-holder and collected money for the poor and pocketing it - so he was betraying Yeshua with a kiss. At that point, Judas was EXPOSED for who he was. At that point, the disciples KNEW who he was and he was essentially exposed i.e. naked before Yeshua. Then suddenly this guy pops up, wearing white, has the tunic pulled off of him and HE WAS NAKED and ran away. So we've got four things here…
Veneer of goodness ('having a form of godliness')
Betrayal
Exposure
Fleeing
I think this is a physical sign of what was happening in the spiritual arena at that time AND what's happening in OUR time. (Judas wasn't stripped naked physically but was exposed spiritually) Our leaders had a veneer of goodness, they have betrayed their people worldwide, they are now in the process of being exposed, and some are beginning to flee i.e. step down, retire etc.
There are countless examples of something physical pointing to a greater, spiritual meaning;
For example, being baptized is an outward act of an inner spiritual change.
Being circumcised points to being circumcised of hearts, cutting off the flesh by denying one’s self of sin.
So that’s what I see here. This guy wearing the linen cloth or tunic is the physical representation of what’s happening to Judas spiritually. And a broader application points to our time and what we’re witnessing now.
We could not have known what this meant before we saw it and had a point of reference. We first had to experience the betrayal and the exposure of our so-called 'leaders' before we could recognize it in scripture. This is entirely consistent with what's been going on in the last 6 1/2 years! God is amazing!!!!!!
p.s. The reason why I called this “Accidental Resurrection Guy” is because there is a prominent bible teacher/theologian/linguist who teaches that this resurrected guy has the same type of burial clothes they wore back then and that somehow he was accidentally resurrected by Jesus. I reject this interpretation.
